Somatic Journey & Philosophy

Lindsay Armstrong (they/she)

Manual & Somatic Therapies for Individual & Collective Liberation

:: B.F.A., Certified Massage Therapist, Reiki Master Teacher, Kripalu Certified Yoga Teacher, social justice & trauma informed yoga guide, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner in training, solo parent of three, space holder, deep feeler & hopeful mover committed to truth & collective liberation ::

For close to thirty years, Lindsay has been intentionally and passionately exploring, learning, and sharing somatic practices. Dedicated to fostering integration and connection, while expanding individual capacity for regulation and resilience, they share their body-oriented, multidisciplinary approach through guided movement & stillness and deep & embodied listening & touch. Lindsay is currently in their Advanced Training Year as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, and their work is greatly inspired and influenced by this wisdom modality.

Lindsay’s exploration of embodied movement began through yoga in 1995, and she started training in manual bodywork and energy healing modalities soon after. She has studied within many traditions in India, Thailand, Nepal and the U.S. and has been sharing and evolving her bodywork and energy healing offerings for two and a half decades. Forever a student, she began guiding yoga and embodiment classes in 2001 with the intention to hold space and co-create a courageous container for folks to deepen into their experience at their unique pace, with room for variation and with a sense of honor and trust for divine individuality, as well as collective and inherent connection. Lindsay’s fluid, heart-centered and thoughtfully sequenced mentoring style is steeped in gratitude and reverence for the rich cultures from which these practices come, along with the recognition that thier roots are not her own. Lindsay’s weekly drop-in movement classes are currently online through Zoom (and outside when the weather allows) and span from gentle & restorative to moderate & vigorous in nature. These offerings emerge through a trauma informed, social justice lens and extend beyond physical yoga asana (postures) and pranayama (breath control) into an embodied practice inspired by the 8 limbs of yoga, yogic philosophy, vichara (critical thinking), experiential somatic movement, Somatic Experiencing®, astrology, the natural world, current & social justice issues, and more. These embodied movement offerings recognize and aim to nourish the cathartic and alchemical power of being present in one's body - tracking and exploring sensation, emotion, and thought, while remembering that Self is not the body, emotions, or mind-stuff but, rather, witness consciousness. Providing the opportunity to transform practice into prayer, studying and exploring these somatic methods and teachings - along with how they relate to dynamics of privilege, power, oppression and the ultimate goal of freedom - can become a path toward individual and collective liberation. Lindsay believes that with immense compassion for ourselves and others, coupled with courageous vulnerability, we are able to grow our capacity to build and sustain the resilience needed to hold both the light and the shadow that make up our diverse human experiences. She appreciates the gifts of embodied practices to facilitate this resilience and feels deeply honored to share in this way.

Lindsay feels strongly about equity and recognizes the uneven playing field of life and, in particular, the wellness world. As a space holder, they are committed to making Embodied's offerings accessible to as many as possible, and are glad to connect individually around sliding scale/equity/social justice pricing. Please contact them at embodiedvermont@gmail.com or 802-477-3863 for more information about offerings and to schedule personal sessions. Lindsay is looking forward to connecting and co-creating together!
